The vineyards from which Valgiano's "cru" originates are located on a plateau of about 8 hectares, with 30-year-old vines.
The soil is the result of the uplifting of the Apennines and the sliding of calcareous marl, on which acidic sandstone was deposited during the pre-glacial era.
